So, this blog is meant to be about some of my passions, and, admittedly, I have a few varied interests.

Movies. Books. Music.

And, in this case... Food.

Odds are, if you're one of the three people reading this blog, you already know about Patricia's and my side gig, Cook Local, and you know we enjoy food. A lot, whether it's cooking or eating out.

In fact, pretty soon, I'll do an ongoing series on my search for the best chicken parm sub in Seattle. Believe me, it's tricky to find one. I had one, but they went away.

But anyways, this isn't about that.

This is about a short vacation.

A vacation that was taken entirely for a meal. A single planned meal.

And what turned out to be a second, unplanned meal because that single planned meal was so good.

Before I go much further, I should head off the ethics police at the pass. We did not pay full price for the food we ate, despite our best intentions and our purpose in wanting to help a restaurateur who was starting out by basically giving her all the money in our wallets. But anyways.

Lisa Nakamura, formerly of the Herbfarm, bin vivant, and QUBE (closed), has opened a new restaurant: Allium out on Orcas island.
