SIFF: Otto; or Up with Dead People

|

image Otto was, I think, our first Midnight movie this year, tho we didn't catch the midnight showing.

What is Otto; or Up with Dead People?  It's a gay porno.  It's a zombie movie.  It's a mockumentary film-in-a-film.  It's a political discussion.  It's a comedy.

But is it a good film?

Vaguely.

My lovely wife felt that there wasn't actually any reason to care about the protagonist.

And she isn't wholly incorrect, I'm not entirely sure it matters.  The story was about Otto who may, or may not, be a Zombie.  He manages to work his way into a Zombie porno movie that an avant-garde movie maker is making and proceeds to discover his past life, reconnect with his past lover.

Should you see this movie?  Well, if you're a fan of Bruce LaBruce, you'll probably like it.  I gave it a 3, mostly because I think it was a solid work, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped.
