SIFF: Film the First...

First movie out of the gate was the first week of the Secret Festival, so, pursuant to the NDA, let me say what I can about it.

I liked it.

If you aren't familiar with the Secret Festival, it is a festival within the festival.  It might be archival presentations of a remastered print, it might be a work print, it might be a soon to be released movie, or a movie that just hasn't had it's distributor announced.  Generally tho, the movie isn't a movie they have permission to show officially.  Maybe the US or World Premier was offered to another Festival. 

This is, I think, my fourth or fifth year going.  While yes, there have been some not so good movies, generally speaking, they're great, and half of it is the audience.  You generally have to get there early, like, y'know, 930am, wait in line for an hour plus, just to see a movie where you have no idea what it will be. 

I just wish we could get more of our friends to subject themselves to this joy, just so we could actually talk to other people about the movies we see.
