Once I ran 5 miles....

... and then I said 'Fine, lady, take back your purse...'

So, I begged, pleaded and cajoled you to donate money for the 8k Beat the Bridge run and this past Sunday was the run.

The course is a street course, minor hills, nothing major, a very pleasant run.  But, the goal of the run, and hence the name, is that at the 2 mile mark is a drawbridge that, 25 minutes into the race, goes up.

Last year, we missed the bridge by about 5 minutes.

This year, between better training and a slight cheat[1], we just crossed the bridge when the horn blew.

I'm not really sure what to say about the race.  We ran 2 miles, walked a little bit, ran 2 more miles, walked a little bit, and finished the race hand in hand.

I had hoped to walk a little less, but, we still did good.  We improved our time by almost 10 minutes.

[1]  We picked a starting group that was, admittedly, faster than we were.

I was fully across the bridge and had been walking for at least a full minute before the horn blew.

So there. :-p
