Very Suspicious.

So Jenna would like to know what makes me suspicious.

Hmm.

Well, suspicious is how you feel about something that you are yet to decide if it is good or bad, right?  There are things that I know are bad and things that I know are both good and bad (like Humanity in general).

But what am I unsure of?

1. People who are sure.  I don't mean the people who have confidence, I mean people who are just sure of something and won't accept any possible other possibilities.  I'm firmly agnostic and I'm as afraid of die hard atheists as I am the Rev. Hutch's in this world.  I believe in people who are unsure, especially about the big things. 
2. Good Fiction.  Some fiction writers, be it movie or novel manage to make a such a realistic world that I have trouble believing that it is truly fictional.  Could it exist somewhere, somehow? 
3. Anyone 'official' who says aliens don't exist.  Do I think they exist?  Yeah, probably, but I don't really think they are visiting us.  But anytime you get a government official saying that they don't exist, that makes me suspicious.  Probably related to #1.
4. Psychiatrists.  On the one hand, I do believe that some mental conditions do need medications.  On the other hand, I worry that the medications will be over-prescribed for even minor cases that could be handled with just talking, or even a dope slap and a 'Dude.  It's really not that bad.'  And that leads right into...
5. Antibiotics.  I think that antibiotics are quite good.  They're useful.  But, when you start throwing them at everything, and the biotics just get stronger (yeah, I know they aren't really called biotics, but, really, if it is an antibiotic, shouldn't it take care of biotics), something seems to be hinky.  And this just leads righ into...
6. The Rise of Disease.  ADHD, Diabetes, SAD, etc etc etc... Are they more prevalent because of increased skill at finding them?  Because of larger population numbers making them more noticeable?  Because something is making them more common?
7. Global Climate Change.  Do I think it's fake?  Not entirely.  Do I think it's real?  Mostly.  Am I more curious about what would be happening were it not for man's influence?  Definitely.  Fallen Angels, simply a work of fiction with no scientific basis, talks about the world after we manage to stave off global warming which was all that was keeping the next ice age at bay.  I sometimes wonder if that's what is happening.  If we stopped all of our effects, might something worse happen?
8. JK Rowling.  Yeah.  Really.   I'm just suspicious that someone put out such a skillfully written first novel.  I always thought someone else might have been behind it, but I still read all the books.

I think that's about it.  Patricia says I should put fog on the list because every time it rolls in I wonder if we were abducted by aliens in some sort of Dark City sort of way and that's what the fog is.  I guess that might make the list, but, on the other hand, I know fog is evil, so, that doesn't make the list.  And I knew that even before The Mist.  I might even be suspicious of people who ask me to continue a meme..... =)
