POSITION PURPOSE
The Computer Tech II position maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, repairs desktop and laptop computer systems and related hardware peripherals. Additionally the Tech II is responsible for documenting, maintaining, upgrading or replacing hardware and software systems. The Tech II has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Mac or PC technology support fields. Tech Level II supports multi-departmental initiatives. The position plays a strong roll as a resource to either Mac or PC end-user clients. The Computer Tech II is responsible for leading local projects through to completion.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Support:• Strong people skills
• Provide client support (resource to client)
• Cross trained in Mac and Windows PC
• Resolve help calls with no direction
• Strong internal business knowledge (internal processes)
• Provide home client computer support (if fits business requirements)
• Assist in the development of help/tutorial handouts for CBT (computer based training), WBT (web based training) and class based training.
• Virus protection and removal
• Software patching/updates testing and installation
Network Support:
• Setup of client level VPN's
• Uses cable testers to detect port speeds and verify network integrity
• Ability to set IP addressing
• Break\Fix network connectivity issues
Printer Plotter:
• Provide troubleshooting for most printer problems
• Installation of drivers (provided)
• Installation of printers and or RIPs
• Download print drivers and install
Office Automation:
• Software installation
• Break/fix
• Working knowledge of applications
o Microsoft Office
o Exchange
o Outlook
o SAP
o Win98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003
o Mac OSX
o Other apps as needed
• BETA test software
• Software research and recommendation
Hardware Support:
• Installation of RAM upgrades
• Installation of CD Rom drives

• Create and install Ghost images
• Troubleshooting via remote access
• VNC, VPN, and Modem

• Data translations from old systems to new
• Setup mail client & transfer client data
• Setup remote dial in access

• Beta test hardware and report findings
• Must have the ability to lift 40lbs.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
3 to 5 years field experience in help desk or desktop.• Associates in Computer Science, Computer Programming or equivalent experience with approval
